Buffalo Mountain is one of the first peaks that becomes visible on the Summit County side of I-70 Eisenhower Tunnel. It welcomes visitors into this mountain paradise with its bold curved cap, topping off at 12,777ft. The slopes are dramatically marked with avalanche scars, the larger of which is a quarter mile wide and dates back to a slide in 1989. This peak sits at the southern end of the Gore Range and the beginning of Eagles Nest Wilderness.
These articles are my best efforts to share the amazing things I have encountered on my adventure in Summit County. They are a constant work in progress, so check back often for updates and feel free to contact me with questions or comments.
